Commentary:
Cyndi Glass: What happens to Ronnie (we eventually find out in "2245") is that he is caught and sentenced to death. Hanson ends up watching his execution. But it does end rather abruptly and, for a conclusion of a two-part episode, it’s oddly unable to tie up the loose ends. Ronnie is out on the streets and doesn’t have to suffer (yet). And the girlfriend wants to get help - but can she last 4 months without it? I somehow doubt it. And what about Ioki? We see him dealing with the problems of his missing identity - but there are a lot of episodes between this and #24 "Christmas in Saigon," which is where we finally get the follow-up and find out what’s going on and why he’s using the false identity.
John DeCarli: Things get a little more personal here. The Penhall-Hoffs abortive romance adds a degree of personal tension not seen before. TPTB seem to have been at great pains to note that the relationship never became sexual- and that's fine with me. How many TV series have been ruined when the main characters finally "do it?"
For me, the highlights of this episode are the extended Hanson/Sal Banducci scenes. I can only think of one or two other times (in much shorter scenes) where they're together without other major characters. It's fun to watch because Depp and Jenco have almost as much personal history together as the DeLuise brothers.
Otherwise, things go well here except for a technical glitch right at the beginning-someone really should have corrected the spelling in "Scenes from Part I of Beseiged."
