Pilot Stuff We Didn't See

I have just learned the answers to a few of those burning questions that we all ask ourselves, while watching the Jump Street Pilot - questions such as: How did Hanson get in the back seat? Why does Ioki call his car "The Deuce"? What's the real deal between Hoffs and Jenko? I'm sure there are more burning questions, that I'm not remembering at the moment, but those will do for tonight.

How, you may ask, did I learn the answers? Well, I was given a copy of the script for the 21JS Pilot episode, and I've been having wa-a-a-a-a-ay too much fun reading through it! (Before you ask me where it came from, I'll tell you...I DON'T KNOW! My husband bought it for me as a Hannukah gift, and when I asked where he got it, he refused to tell me. I think he wants to protect his source, so he can pick up more interesting loot without having me go in and clean out the supply, on my own. So, I'm sorry, but I don't have any info on where to get scripts!)

So, now on to those burning questions...

1) How did Hanson get in the back seat? (You remember the big car chase scene - Hanson and Ioki are chasing Kenny on his motor scooter, and Hanson starts out in the front seat. But when the squad car pulls them over, he's in the back seat.) Answer: A scene was edited out in which Hanson tells Ioki not to catch Kenny, since it will blow his cover if Kenny sees him. Ioki suggests that Hanson get in the back seat, where he won't be seen, and Hanson agrees. Hence, our Hero is in the back seat when his ex-partner catches them (no, he wasn't pitched backward over the seat by Ioki's driving - though this would have made for a much funnier scene!).

2) Why does Ioki call his car "The Deuce"? Answer: Because it's a 1969 Buick Electra 225, which is known among car nuts as "the deuce and a quarter" (for it's model #, 225, get it?). Patrick Hasburgh is obviously a serious car nut, who probably either owned one of these or lusted after it, because the script is full of little bits of info about this car - including a more detailed explanation of why it's been stripped down (remember, no seat belts). FYI - I had my resident car nut look at my tape of the pilot, just to make sure that they used a real Buick Electra, and it's the genuine article.

3) What's the real deal between Hoffs and Jenko? Answer: In the original version of the script, they're sleeping together. When Hanson calls Jenko to tell him about Waxer shooting up the cab, Hoffs was in bed with Jenko. So, those of you who thought she seemed closer to Jenko than could be explained by a cop/commander relationship were NOT hallucinating.

Now, many of you may be asking yourselves, "Why do I care about all this crap?" Answer: Maybe you don't, but I'm slightly obsessive, and I like having these mysteries solved!
