Official Announcement from Warren Cuccurullo: The 80's new wave, pop rock, mutant offspring of Frank Zappa, the band known as Missing Persons, is going to re-form with all original members (drummer Terry Bozzio, guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, bassist Patrick O'Hearn, and, of course, lead vocalist Dale Bozzio, a pre-Madonna MTV icon). Dale's visual influence can be seen all over video music channels today when you see artists like Christina Aguilara and Gwen Stefani, who seem to have picked up on the eccentricity of Dale's outlandish fashion sense and hairstyles. (But no one can wear Plexiglas like Dale did!) To see this band live is not to be believed. Everyone in the group is looking forward to playing all of their best stuff that was a staple of early 80's alternative rock radio and MTV.   The Time -- 3rd Week Of July    The Place -- Los Angeles   Watch this space -- you'll be hearing more very soon!

Fifteen years after they disbanded, the original members of ‘80s new wave outfit Missing Persons have officially announced they will reunite. Singer Dale Bozzio – known for her outlandish Plexiglas outfits and futuristic pink-tinged platinum locks – drummer Terry Bozzio and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo are scheduled to play a handful of spcial shows July 17-20 in Southern California, with a full-scale tour to follow. They are also working on new music for a future release. Missing Persons, which consisted of refugees from musical eccentric Frank Zappa’s eclectic musical troupe, rose to fame in the early ’80s with such MTV and alternative rock radio staples as “Words” and “Walking in L.A.” The West Coast dates are 4th & B in San Diego (July 17), The Roxy in Los Angeles (18), House of Blues in Anaheim (20).

Into The Groove: Original Members of Duran Duran and Missing Persons Plan Reunions
by David Ciminelli
IN Magazine, June 19-July 2, 2001

It seems that recent reunions by ‘80s icons Culture Club, Blondie, the Bangles and the Go-Go’s has inspired another band from the awesome era to regroup. For the first time since 1985, Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and John, Roger and Andy Taylor will jam together as Duran Duran. The fab five have announced plans to meet at a studio this month to begin writing and recording new material. Though LeBon and Rhodes (with ex-Missing Persons guitarist Warren Cuccurullo) have continued to tour as Duran Duran, this is the first time in 16 years that all five original Duranies will be working together. Now that Cuccurullo is out of the band, he has plenty of time to play “Mental Hopscotch.” He will be reuniting with his Missing Persons band mates – singer Dale Bozzio, Terry Bozzio, and bassist Patrick O’Hearn – for a summer reunion tour, which will be making a stop at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood on July 18.

First came the Duran Duran reunion, but as part of the fallout from that collaboration, onetime guitarist Warren Cuccurullo was then free to complete a reunion of his original group, Missing Persons. Cuccurullo, vocalist Dale Bozzio and drummer Terry Bozzio will launch their reunion next month with three Southern California shows, with a full tour soon to follow. The group will play San Diego’s 4th & B on July 17th, The Roxy in Los Angeles on July 18th and Anaheim’s House of Blues on July 20th. Missing Persons have been missing in person from reunion plans. The original members of Missing Persons will meet for rehearsals for the first time in fifteen years next week in Los Angeles. Singer Dale Bozzio along with Terry Bozzio will meet with reunion organizer Warren Cuccurullo, and though they’ve only had phone conversations about their upcoming shows, the first has been scheduled for July 17th in San Diego. When we caught up with the former Duran Duran guitarist earlier this week, Cuccurullo admitted the idea for the reunion was kind of forced into his head. “I had a Duran Duran meeting thrust upon me out of nowhere. So I thought, well okay, if I don’t fit in that original five lineup, I’m gonna get my original band together as well so I can play some music for the next couple years. I don’t want to stop performing yet.” Missing Persons has only a handful of West Coast dates planned. Cuccurullo says that the band is going to see how they do with these dates before they plan a full-scale reunion tour.

July 17: Missing Persons: You can add Missing Persons to the latest resurgence of ‘80s bands to reunite. The group will perform in a small series of concerts here in California. Missing Persons had several solid hits in the ‘80s with songs such as “Destination Unknown” and “Words.” The core group of the original band – singer Dale Bozzio, drummer Terry Bozzio and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo – have plans to continue touring and get together for a new release. “We might as well get Missing Persons back together,” Cuccurullo says. “There’s an interest in that music from the early ‘80’s. We were one of the hottest bands of the time … why don’t we do it?” The four [sic] date tour starts with a July 17 concert at San Diego’s 4th and B.

After a 15 year hiatus, the popular `80s new wave/pop rock band Missing Person will reunite with all original members this summer for a few special Southern California dates before heading out on a full length tour. No word on whether lead vocalist Dale Bozzio will also reunite with her outlandish plexiglass outfits and outrageous, pink-tinted platinum locks, but we can only hope. The last Missing Persons release was The Best of Missing Persons (Capitol) in 1987. However, the band is currently working on new music, which is in the works for future release.
