Missing Persons: Back For More (February 2003)
by Cyndi Glass
Missing
Persons is back in a big way, and that was made clear to fans at three shows
this month in Southern California. Quite fittingly, as this was where Dale and Warren
began Missing Persons back in 1979, their new version of Missing Persons made a
bold statement with spontaneous performances and solid musicianship to rival
the `80s lineup. Cohesive and tight, this band seems capable of handling
anything, including total improvisation and a lack of rehearsal time.
Fans were
enthusiastic -- even long-time fans were quick to praise Joe Travers for his
no-holds-barred drum attack. Ronnie brought in that delightful `80s keyboard
sound that always was a signature of the MP sound, while Wes provided a solid
foundation on the bass from his new position up front with Dale and Warren.
Dale sparkled with enthusiasm and energy as she performed, and Warren kept
everyone together as he played, sometimes commanding the band with just a look
as he ripped his way through these songs that are so close to his heart.
The
website meet & greets gave Warren an opportunity to meet with fans before
the Saturday night Anaheim HOB show in Anaheim and after the Sunday night
Sunset HOB show. Wes graciously agreed to drop in and talk to fans as well on
both nights, with Joe making an appearance at the aftershow meet & greet on
Sunday night.
