Hit Me Baby One More Time!  (NBC, 9 PM, June 30)

Missing Persons (Dale only, with her current band) appeared on the June 30 episode of NBC's Hit Me Baby One More Time. The episode taped June 29.

Hit Me Baby One More Time was shown on Thursdays at 9 PM Eastern time and featured bands/artists from the past performing one of their own songs and then a cover song of the show producers' choice.

Warren, Terry, Patrick and Chuck did not participate. Dale's current band (Brad, Chip, Jake & Ronnie) was there with her. According to Warren who considered participating and then declined, there is a 1:55 time limit on the original song. There was a great pre-performance clip about the original band ("virtuoso musicians") and a current-day clip featuring Dale and her son. The two songs performed were "Words" and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head."

Missing Persons was formed in 1980, but their story doesn't begin there. In 1976, bassist Patrick O'Hearn and drummer Terry Bozzio were both playing in Frank Zappa's band when Terry met singer, and former Playboy bunny, Dale Consalvi at a Hollywood recording studio - they married one year later. Guitarist Warren Cuccurullo joined the Zappa outfit shortly after, but his stint with Zappa wouldn't last long. In 1980, the four of them formed their own band and brought classically trained pianist Chuck Wild into the mix. After a series of name changes, the band settled on "Missing Persons" and their career was launched with the release of their self-titled EP in 1981 on their producer's own label.

Capitol Records picked up the band, and the album, and reissued the EP in 1982. On its wider release, the songs "Words" and "Destination Unknown" found an audience and nearly cracked the top 40, but it was MTV that would make their fame. The band's quirky, sci-fi stage appearance and electronic sound were perfect for the new cable station and their videos soon went into heavy rotation.

Their song, "Walking in L.A." was a huge hit off their follow-up album, but by the 1984 release of their third LP, "Rhyme and Reason," their momentum was waning. The single "Gift" was a minor success, but their next album, the "Color in Your Life," failed to attract much attention and Missing Persons split up. The talented members were far from finished with music, however. Dale Bozzio issued a solo album while her husband went on to work with Jeff Beck. Cuccurullo joined Duran Duran, remaining with them for nearly 15 years. O'Hearn recorded several instrumental new age albums, and Wild composed music for films and television. In 2001, taking a cue from Duran Duran's reunion of their original lineup, Missing Persons reunited for a series of successful shows in San Diego.

Missing Persons will be performing "Words" and Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"

It is with sadness that we report the death of bassist Wes Wehmiller.

Wes, age 33, was found in his apartment Jan. 30 after having passed away in his sleep. The cause of death is still unknown.

Born Sept. 12, 1971, John Wesley Wehmiller grew up near Philadelphia. After attending high school in Delaware, he was accepted at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. In Los Angeles, he played in several local bands and did studio work.

A highlight of his career was his stint as Duran Duran's tour bassist from 1997 to 2001, including the opportunity to perform all over the world and appear on many television shows, including VH-1`s Storytellers and Hard Rock Live as well as The Tonight Show.

Besides being a close friend of Warren's, Wes was his bassist for many solo shows, with his work appearing on the Road Rage CD. He took part in the 2001 and 2003 Missing Persons shows.

On Jan. 23, he and Joe performed with Dweezil Zappa at the Los Angeles NAMM Convention and there were plans for the three of them to tour. Wes and Joe also performed with guitarist Mike Keneally back in December, fulfilling a longstanding wish for Wes.

Wes was a skilled photographer and an articulate writer. He kept himself in prime physical condition, enjoying ice hockey, cycling and other fitness activities.

Message from Warren:

Wes Wehmiller, one of my favorite people in the universe, is now one with the universe...he passed away in his sleep last night, cause of death is still unknown. Wes had many friends who really loved him, and, as much as we'll miss him, we will always feel his lovely spirit. An unforgettable character, a great musician, a great friend. Wes was also quite the freak: he could master just about anything, artistically, athletically or musically. When Duran Duran needed a bass player, I knew there was only 1 guy for the job, same goes for my solo material or Missing Persons, he owned those gigs. I am very grateful for all of the time I got to spend with him over the years of touring. I'm sure that he is at peace, in the light. Our condolences go out to his loved ones, may God ease your pain. Thank you for sharing him with us.  God bless, wc 1/31/05

For more about Wes, please go back to the main page and click the links for the 2001 and 2003 Missing Persons shows - there are lots of photos, including many behind-the-scenes MP photos taken by Wes himself. Also, please see Warren's site for links to free downloads of music by Duran Duran, Missing Persons and Warren Cuccurullo featuring Wes on bass. Wes also had thousands of photos at his own photography page - http://wez.smugmug.com

Baby Snakes DVD: The Baby Snakes DVD (Frank Zappa, 1979) was released commercially on Dec. 9, for an average price of $15.99 in most stores. Joe Travers, who in addition to being an excellent drummer is the official Zappa vaultmeister, posted the following information: "This will be a special DVD containing a 5.1 mix culled from FZ's original 4-channel mixes dated September 1979. The DVD will contain the full length movie (2 hours, 44 minutes) plus some additional stuff."   Filmed in October 1977 and shown theatrically in  limited release in 1979, this DVD is a must-have for Zappa and Missing Persons fans. It contains behind-the-scenes antics, claymation by Bruce Bickford, and incredible live performance footage from the lineup that included Terry Bozzio and Patrick O'Hearn. Warren, at age 20, is in two brief scenes visiting Frank backstage.

Frank Zappa Biography: Terry, Patrick, Warren and Dale are mentioned in a newly-republished of their mentor and friend, Frank Zappa. Electric Don Quixote: The Definitive Story Of Frank Zappa, by Neil Slaven, was originally written in 1996. This new edition is published by Omnibus Press and should be available wherever books are sold. Also, the DVD for Frank Zappa's movie Baby Snakes is due for release on Nov. 18, 2003 - if you are a Terry or Patrick fan, this is not to be missed!

Patrick O'Hearn's New CD: Patrick O'Hearn has released a new CD, Beautiful World, which can be viewed in greater detail and streamed in MP3 audio format at his web site (high speed connection recommended). In addition, he has added a store to the site whereby this new title can be obtained directly if desired. So, when time or interest permits, drop by and check it out at: http://www.patrickohearn.com.

Warren's Been Busy: Warren Cuccurullo has released two new songs on his website: "Delicious" and "From The Dark Side To You." The songs are in "pre-demo" form. Additionally, his Santa Monica restaurant, Via Veneto, is becoming quite the place to spot celebrities. In December, Warren was given an MTV Lifetime Achievement Award for his work with Duran Duran.

Patrick Talks OuTrio (Dec. 2003):

A fan sent along this quote from Patrick about the experience: "The Outrio gig was a success!, both in terms of turn-out, and most importantly in terms of enjoyment. The set consisted mainly of BPM material; however, we also did one of my tunes ("Night Becomes Her," a song you can stream off my web site on the new Beautiful World CD) and Zappa's "Black Page." I played bass, no keys.  ( we'll include my keys for future gigs). The show was videotaped, and there was talk of releasing it as a future DVD. It was the first time I'd worked with guitarist, Alex, and the first time Terry and I had gig'd live in many years.  It  was really a blast and I hope we'll do it more next year."

Terry Talks OuTrio (Dec. 2003):

Good news about OuTrio: "The entire concert (Feb. 12, 2003, Austin, TX) was filmed and is currently being edited. It was an awesome performance. The live video will soon be released for sale (check Terry's website in a month or two. As soon as Terry returns from Vienna in late October he will pursue OuTrio with Patrick and Alex (guitar) unless something further happens with Jeff Beck. That would take priority. But in the near future OuTrio will record a new CD and do a European and National tour."

Warren News (Dec. 2003):

Warren's solo music has been featured on an internet radio show called None Radio. Hosted by Rich Pike and Mike Keneally, the show features cool tunes by a variety of artists, and Warren may host the show in the future. Various guest hosts have included Joe Travers, Shankar, and Thomas Nordegg (Zappa/MP/Warren guitar tech). As for new music, Warren has recently hooked up with UK DJ Mark Lewis, working on remixing DD & TV Mania tracks as well as the new music that Warren has been recording. Good news! After months of involuntary frustration, Warren's site has found a new billing provider, Verotel. When the paperwork is complete, members will have complete access to all downloads on the site. Non-members will be able to purchase individual downloads. There will be an announcement when this becomes available.

Dale News (Fall 2003): Dale and her band played a "Missing Persons" show in Miami on October 4, 2003. Ramone sent along the following report: "Great to see this show! Dale was in VERY strong voice and did some AMAZING things with it (yowsah!) and was rockin out as only she knows how. She looked great as always. Awesome performance!! Setlist: 1) Mental Hopscotch 2) Noticeable One 3) Words 4) Here + now 5) It Ain't None Of Your Business 6) Windows 7) US Drag 8) Walking in LA 9) Destination Unknown (slow introduction... FABULOUS) Dale spoke of a 2nd performance the following nite too -so it was a weekend in Miami for her."  An official DVD of the night's show, which was an "80s Reunion Night" (also featuring Berlin and A Flock of Seagulls) is available. Email thewho64@bellsouth.net and put 'Missing Persons and Berlin 2003 VHS video DVD' in the subject line.

Duran Duran Greatest DVD (Oct. 2003): Duran Duran has released a DVD entitled Greatest as a companion to their 1998 CD of the same name. The DVD features videos for all the songs on the CD as well as a lot of extras. Although many of the Warren-era videos are not available on the DVD, it does include some never-before-seen versions of the ones that are, as well as interview footage from 1990. Instructions on how to access the extra features are up on the official Duran Duran site here: http://www.duranduran.com/fanforums.asp (scroll down to: "SPOILER ALERT the easter eggs")

New Live (2003) Track Available (Sept. 2003): A Missing Persons 2003 live track, "Noticeable One," has been released in the members-only Individual Download Archive of Warren's his website. A live recording from February 2003 at the Anaheim House of Blues, the song features Warren and Dale, plus Joe Travers (drums), Wes Wehmiller (bass) and Ron Poster (keyboards). This was Joe's first performance with the band. The original studio track was first recorded for the 1982 album Spring Session M. Members may go to the Individual Download Archive (http://www.musicandsex.tv/download/memberarchive.html) and scroll down under the mp3 column. All you need to do is right-click and save-target-as to download the zip file.

Warren Meets With Fans (August 2003):

While enjoying the authentic Italian food served at Warren's Santa Monica restaurant, Via Veneto, five Duran Duran fans spoke to Warren on the phone, asking him to drop in if he was free. Not only did he drop in, he posed for photos and brought down his guitar for an impromptu acoustic jam session. Dale and Ronnie will be doing these shows with additional musicians.  Both shows are definitely on as of now. The California shows should feature the current lineup of Warren, Dale, Ronnie, Wes & Joe but are still tentative. As I have posted in the past, Warren's/Missing Persons' record deal with One Way is for distribution only, and does not include promotion or touring expenses. Missing Persons will book future shows, most if not all of which will be in the Southwest US. We will try our best to get information  to you as quickly as possible.

Warren To Release Fifth Solo Album: Warren's fifth solo album, an ambient work called Trance-Formed, has a tentative release date of Jan. 28, 2003 on One Way Records. Track Listing: Astral Music Box, Nocera Inferiore, Third Eye, Light Years, Space Junk Alley, Nova Express, Make A Wish, American Desert Survival Pack, Gone Tomorrow and Player Guitar. The track "Nova Express" was released in mp3 format in the Member Area of Warren's website in May 2002. At the time, Warren said, "This is a piece from the soon to be released Trance-Formed cd. It was recorded in 1987 while I was living in Sherman Oaks, CA. The title is taken from a William Burroughs book." Site visitors in the Guest Area can hear a sample clip of the song by clicking through the mp3 Jukebox under the Privacy title bar (small green buttons). Be sure to check out the FAQ, Discography and Solo Career sections (Guest Area, Until Now) for more information on this CD, including the special story behind "Nocera Inferiore."

Warren Hosts Member Chat on Privacy: Warren started the Jan. 19 chat talking about the upcoming Missing Persons shows, which he is very excited about. They are already rehearsing, and he said Dale is definitely more at ease this time around. In response to questions, he said that "Clandestine People" and "Racing Against Time" would not be in the set, nor would any of his solo material, and he also said he hadn't spoken to Patrick in ages and that he'd tried to contact Chuck. The biggest news revealed in the chat was that Warren is engaged to his girlfriend, Donna. In answer to fan questions, Warren said that Donna, who also lives in the Los Angeles area, dances and has a family restaurant/club in Vietnam. He proposed to her a few months ago and has been seeing her for about nine months. He will be traveling to Saigon in late January for a few weeks of vacation. He also said that she is recovering well from her broken collarbone and that it looks like surgery won't be necessary. A couple of weeks ago, he said Donna has been the major inspiration behind his new music, and that she is the light of his life. Speaking of Warren's new music, he's thrown himself full force into the new sound he's discovered. Inspired by clubbing in various cities around the world over the last year, this new music is done with no special effects, just guitar, and Warren has been documenting its creation on video and DAT. Via Veneto (Warren's restaurant in Santa Monica) is a great success, and has drawn rave reviews from fans who have visited it. Warren joked about not being able to get a seat and talked about having king crab ravs (raviolis). As usual, the chat became more informal toward the end, with everyone talking about their favorite current music and films. Warren said that his favorite album of 2002 was Bunkka by Paul Oakenfold and that Missy Elliott is "the queen." He's looking forward to Gangs of New York, thought Frida was "amazing," and hated Die Another Day, but he thought Adaptation & 25th Hour were great.

 More Warren News:

There have been several updates to Warren's website. In the Member Area, the Just Ask (Q&A) section has been updated with new answers from Warren, and the older ones have been archived to Previous Answers. Also, the Video Vaults section has been updated with a brand new exclusive clip from the Missing Persons photo signing & rehearsal in July 2001. The clip has three parts - Terry, Dale and Warren signing photos, and the 2001 band (Terry, Dale, Warren, Wes & Ron) working up a cover of Gary Numan's "Me! I Disconnect From You!" as well as "Action, Reaction." Warren has scheduled a Member Chat for Sunday, Jan. 19 at 1 PM US Pacific time. In the Guest Area, the News has been updated, as well as the Schedule, Links, Biography, FAQ, Solo Work & Discography sections. Browse through the different sections by clicking the big green arrows, enjoy the music, use the small green buttons to click through the mp3 jukebox, and have fun. http://www.musicandsex.tv Warren recently answered a fan question about his current musical activities: "Having taken 1 year off from playing, I'm now ready to return to being a full time musician. Writing new material every day, learning new pieces of equipment, & formulating a sound for a new modern rock band, which could very well be MP."

Lost Tracks Announcement: A new Missing Persons CD, Lost Tracks, has been released on March 26, 2002. Compiled by guitarist and founding member Warren Cuccurullo, this CD is being termed "the final Missing Persons CD" and is an official Missing Persons release.

Containing 14 tracks that span five different eras of the band's history, Lost Tracks has plenty for fans to savor. The album art features a forest scene by Dean Chamberlain (director of Duran Duran videos "All She Wants Is" and "Ordinary World") to tie in with the album title. The liner notes contain "a fond farewell from us," according to Warren, who wrote them himself.

An acid samba remix of "Mental Hopscotch" opens the CD (this was done for Remixed Hits but was not included on that album). Some songs will be brand new to fans but are among the first songs the band ever created; these are songs that Warren has been wanting to share with fans for years and has talked about in various interviews. Songs have been included from the 1984 and 1986 tours as well, pleasing fans whose collection consists of mostly 1982-1983 live shows and radio broadcasts. Filling out the older live material are four songs from the Santa Monica Civic show in 1981

The magic of Reunion 2001 is captured in four tracks taken from the rehearsals at Joe's Garage (Frank Zappa's studio and rehearsal facility in Los Angeles). Rather than choosing songs that the public is familiar with already, Warren chose four songs that are special to fans. "Throw Money" and "Dark and Dangerous Guy" were never recorded and are from the very early days of the band, while "Give" and "Face To Face" are historically difficult-to-find live performances and fan favorites. All four songs were enthusiastically embraced by audiences during the reunion shows.

Original musicians featured are Terry Bozzio (drums), Warren Cuccurullo (guitar), and Dale Bozzio (vocals). Other musicians on the older material are bassist Patrick O'Hearn and keyboardist Chuck Wild, who also handled synth bass on some very early tracks, along with Rob O'Hearn on the 1986 live material. For the Reunion 2001 shows, bass and keyboards were handled by Wes Wehmiller and Ron Poster.

As a special treat for computer users, Lost Tracks is an enhanced CD containing the 1980 live performance video "On Vacation," which Warren temporarily made available early this past summer for free download on the old Privacy site and the Missing Persons site.

Classic Masters: Capitol Records has released another compilation of Missing Persons material, called Classic Masters. The album contains a few dance mixes that are nice to finally have on CD.

Chuck Wild Update: "Most of the last two years I've devoted to family matters (my Mom and Dad).  Mom passed on at 92 in January 2001, and Dad is almost 93 and in good health.  I commute to the Midwest, where Dad lives, every few weeks, so I've been traveling a lot since 1998.  Also, on a non-musical front, I am an active investor, which also requires a bit of time each day to monitor. On the music front: I released a fifth album (under the name Liquid Mind) on August 14, 2001:  Liquid Mind V: Serenity.  The distribution on the Liquid Mind relaxation music albums has been increasing every year, and just this past fall added the Barnes and Nobles chain, as well as the existing 2500 new age book stores. I'm currently writing an extended piece for classical piano, delving back to my classical roots, and it's a lot of fun."

Memberships are $69.99 a year or $9.99 a month; for more information visit the Join page at http://www.musicandsex.tv/join.html Privacy also offers non-members the chance to download MP3s and music videos without joining the site - to check this out, go to http://www.musicandsex.tv, click "Guest Access," use the big green arrow to navigate to "Downloads" and choose "Music" or email Sarah at sarah@warrencuccurullo.com.

Rare remix of Mental Hopscotch released: Warren has released the MP3 of  release of "Mental Hopscotch (Liquid Centre Acid Samba Mix)." About this track, Warren says, "Many people will recognize the name Anthony Resta from the work he did with Duran Duran on Thank You & Medazzaland. He's an excellent rhythm man, programmer, producer & all around musician who always manages to breathe new life into all the tracks he gets involved with. This remix is basically a re-recording. The vocal was done by Dale a few years ago, most other parts were either sampled from live tapes that I provided Anthony with or just some stuff that he came up with to achieve what he calls his Acid Samba Mix. It was originally done on spec for the Cleopatra Remixed Hits album. There were some miscommunications between label & management, & the track didn't get used. Well, here it is. Exclusively on musicandsex.tv.  - W"

2001

Reunion Recordings? In December, Warren said, "The only recordings that were done were of rehearsals. If there is anything that's salvageable soundwise, I'll make them available in the download area of www.musicandsex.tv  I am planning to release an Anthony Resta remix of Mental Hopscotch early next year on the site." (Note, this has changed - see the "Lost Tracks" news item!)

Announcement from Warren Cuccurullo, October 28, 2001: It is with great disappointment that Warren announces Dale Bozzio`s departure from Missing Persons.  As rumored, the Halloween show in Santa Monica is cancelled, and Warren extends his sincerest apologies to Privacy members and all those who had planned on attending the show. For Privacy (Warren's website) members who were planning on attending the meet and greet, future meetings with Warren will be arranged, and current members will be entitled to attend these.

Missing Persons Cancel Halloween Show: Missing Persons has cancelled their planned performance in West Hollywood, CA, for Oct. 31, 2001. The show was to be part of the Santa Monica Boulevard Halloween Carnaval.

Warren's Solo Albums To Be Released Oct. 23: One Way Records will release Warren's third and fourth solo albums (Roadrage and The Blue) on October 23, 2001. Pre-ordering has begun at both CD Now and Amazon, and the albums will be available in stores nationwide (if you would like to buy autographed copies, those are in stock now in the Privacy Rock Shop). Roadrage, a collection of live performances from the mid-1990s, includes the acoustic "Suddenly Spring" as well as showcasing the live rock trio sound of Warren, Joe and Wes on many songs (including "Ordinary World"). The Blue is a collaboration with the Indian artist  Shankar, originally recorded in 1992. For more information about these albums, please visit the Discography and Solo Work sections at Privacy.

Rumored Oct. 30 show cancelled: Although tickets had gone on sale for  Missing Persons show at the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA, Warren did not confirm this show or allow posting of it on the sites, and it has now been cancelled. The Oct. 31 Halloween show in Santa Monica, CA is still on schedule, and Warren says this will be the only show.

Announcement from Warren – Terry leaves Missing Persons: As of Wednesday, September 12, Missing Persons drummer Terry Bozzio will no longer be performing or recording with the group. The two founding members, lead singer Dale Bozzio and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo (who recently split with his bandmates of 15 years, Duran Duran, to reform MP) will continue on with Joe Travers on drums and Wes Wehmiller on bass. Travers & Wehmiller were the rhythm section for Duran Duran from 1997 until 2001. Cuccurullo says that he hopes "to be able to bring a little joy & happiness into people`s lives by continuing to play this music. God knows we all need a little joy right now." Keyboardist Ron Poster will continue with the group as well.

Missing Persons Shows Planned for October: Missing Persons will be doing some dates around the end of October. "We all really want to play as many shows as we can before we get a full scale tour together," Warren says. "The shows we did this summer were too much fun to let it all lie dormant now while we plot & plan our future."  Although nothing is solid yet, Warren said he's working on a deal to do six to seven West Coast dates over the last ten days of October, and there may be other southwestern cities added to the list (Phoenix and Vegas are possibilities).  UPDATE: The Halloween Show is currently the only show planned.

Chuck Wild Releases Fifth Album: Former Missing Persons keyboardist Chuck Wild has released a fifth album in his Liquid Mind series, called Serenity. According to Chuck, "Liquid Mind V: Serenity is a peaceful and soothing musical journey, designed to help you relax deeply during meditation, massage, yoga, rest, or in times of stress. It is a wonderful background for massage, meditation, healing, yoga, Pilates, Reiki, shiatsu, t'ai chi or reflexology. The tranquil flow of the music, and the absence of regular rhythm, allows the listener to experience a level of relaxation not achievable by more active music. The fifth in Liquid Mind's elegant electronic series of slow relaxation music albums takes the listener to a place of deep calm and tranquility. This gentle album is used by people to relieve stress, by parents to help quiet hyperactive children, by insomniacs to assist themselves in going back to sleep in the middle of a difficult night, and by just about anyone to relieve the stress of a busy day at work." For album details and track by track comments written by Chuck, please visit his website at http://www.liquidmindmusic.com/

Warren's Online Chat: Lycos.com will host an online chat with Warren at 6 PM Pacific time on Monday, July 16.

He's also completing interviews with Billboard.com, Campus Circle, Backstage Magazine, VH-1 Radio Network, Virginmega.com, and Highwire Daze, L.A. Daily News (article will run July 10). Look for another interview in the July 2001 issue of Hosting Tech magazine (http://www.hostingtech.com). More Interviews with Dale and Warren: ABC Radio Network, DMX Music (satellite radio), Launch Radio, Westwood One Radio, IN Magazine (bi-weekly gay magazine), VH-1 80's Documentary to air in November 2001.

July 2001 Concert Information: The Missing Persons dates will be in Southern California only, and the July 19 date at the Roxy has been cancelled (the one for the 18th at the Roxy is still on). The band is finalizing a LONG setlist that will please not only the people who want to hear all the hits but also fans who want to hear material before and after 1982-83. The Roxy has an ad for Missing Persons on their side billboard! Besides the original members of Missing Persons (Warren, Terry & Dale), the band will be rounded out with Ron Poster on keyboards, whom some of you may be familiar with through Dale's recent shows, and Wes Wehmiller, who had been Warren's bassist since 1996 and Duran Duran's tour bassist from 1997-2001. Patrick O’Hearn was originally supposed to be part of the 2001 MP reunion, but he changed his mind and decided not to participate. Warren has said there will be no merchandise sold at the Missing Persons shows. Contrary to any rumors you may have heard, Terry Bozzio will be playing.

Right Now Clips: Here's the cool picture that CD Now used for their MP article (Note: Chuck was not an original member and is not participating in the reunion):

MISSING PERSONS TOUR DATES: July 17, 4th & B, San Diego, CA; July 18, the Roxy, Los Angeles, CA; July 20, House of Blues, Anaheim, CA Patrick O'Hearn will not be participating in the Missing Persons reunion shows in July.

MTV.com, June 2001: MTV: What do you think of the Duran Duran reunion?; (Mark) McGrath (of Sugar Ray): Did they ever go away? That's my question. ; MTV: It's the original lineup and guitarist Warren Cuccurullo is going back with Missing Persons.

New Music! Dale and Warren have been working on new music since wintertime, plus there are several songs that never got officially recorded (songs from 1980-81) that Warren would like to release (they would probably have to be newly re-recorded, as they have live tapes and rehearsal tapes, but nothing else at this point). This would include "Dark & Dangerous Guy" and "Throw Money," plus some others.

News coverage of the Missing Persons and Duran Duran reunions: Duran Duran coverage * Missing Persons coverage

Warren leaves Duran Duran (May 5, 2001): Warren Cuccurullo has left Duran Duran, the band he has been with since 1986.

Warren plans Missing Persons Reunion (May 3, 2001): "The 80's new wave, pop rock, mutant offspring of Frank Zappa, the bandknown as Missing Persons, is going to re-form with all original members (drummer Terry Bozzio, guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, bassist Patrick O'Hearn, and, of course, lead vocalist Dale Bozzio, a pre-Madonna MTV icon). Dale's visual influence can be seen all over video music channels today when you see artists like Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani, who seem to have picked up on the eccentricity of Dale's outlandish fashion sense and hairstyles. (But no one can wear Plexiglas like Dale did!) To see this band live is not to be believed. Everyone in the group is looking forward to playing all of their best stuff that was a staple of early 80's alternative rock radio and MTV. " (photo at left ©1986 Capitol Records)

Warren Cuccurullo's new solo CD: Warren has released another solo album called The Blue. You can order it from Medazzaland Discs or G&S Music. Check out the new (Van Halen cover, Apr 2001) issue of Guitar Player, which is an 80's themed issue - they list Warren as one of the best guitarists of the 80's! Thanks to Ron J. for the info.

Check out my most recent interviews with Warren Cuccurullo, done Nov. 20, 2000. In one interview, we talked about Rhyme & Reason and Color In Your Life in depth, and in the second, he gave me more info about his solo projects and answers to some of your questions. Don't forget - Warren is touring the UK with Duran Duran in December. Interview One * Interview Two

Patrick and Chuck have sent comments about the re-issued Missing Persons albums.

Check out Warren in G Magazine's photo spread - 23 beautiful photos, some of them leaving nothing to the imagination!

One-Way Records/Capitol have released Rhyme & Reason and Color In Your Life on CD as of Nov. 21, 2000. This is the same company that released Spring Session M on CD a few years ago. For copies of One Way's CDs, check with your local retailer or http://www.cdnow.com. For mail order call: The Music Shack at 518-436-4581. Please see the MP discography for details on all the unreleased & extra bonus tracks that have been added. According to Warren, the liner notes are incorrect - he does not sing vocals on "Hot To Cold," and the song "Fight For Life" is actually called "Fight For Love."

For Warren fans - check out the National Physique Committee Interview with Warren (Dec 2000)

There is an excellent interview with Terry Bozzio at Classic Rock Revisited.

Kate posted on the mailing list: "Hey everyone! I was able to catch up with Dale yesterday while she was in Dallas. She wanted me to tell everyone on the list that she is looking for a new record deal. She also had a couple of acting jobs that unfortunately did not materialize. She has a new four-month-old collie, I can't remember the name. She is looking beautiful, as always, inside and out, and she put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. She has a really great band with her now. I like these guys better than the last guys she had with her. They are all excellent musicians and they totally rocked! The songs played were I Like Boys, Mental Hopscotch, Here and Now, Walking in L.A., Destination Unknown, U.S. Drag, Action Reaction, Noticeable One, Windows, Words, Bad Streets, and Tears. That was the first time I've ever heard her play Action Reaction and I can't tell you how kick-ass it was! She took the time, as always, to shake everyone's hand, and the crowd really loved her."

The "Pop Trash" tour program being sold at Duran Duran's summer 2000 concerts has several pictures of Warren from his Missing Persons days.

From: YokoMofo@aol.com: In a recent interview with former Missing Persons keyboardist Chuck Wild, Wild told one of CDNOW's editors, David McGurgan, that Cypress Hill were in the studio a few weeks ago working on a cover of Missing Persons' mega-hit, "Walking in L.A." featuring none other than Dale Bozzio singing on it. Not sure where the track will end up yet. Meanwhile, Wild is busy with his current new age group, Liquid Mind..."

The Duran Duran Behind the Music aired in April 1999. They show a very brief clip from "Words" Also, don't miss Dale on VH-1's "Where Are They Now: Girls Girls Girls" episode.
